Back to Artists

I can't remember a time in my life that didn't involve art. I began to study painting when I was fourteen. For me art was the only option for my future.

I moved to Memphis in 1990 to attend Memphis College of Art, from which I graduated in 1994. I've spent many years as a graphic designer and art director in Memphis and on the Gulf Coast.

I paint what is in my head and in my heart - no outside input allowed. This is both my therapy and my voice. I never make art wondering "what will sell". For me, that is the opposite of artistic expression. I paint to satisfy a need within myself to create new ways to explain feelings visually. I simply attempt to work things out on canvas - and try express what is on my mind at the time, whether it's anger, happiness, conflict or even confusion. If people are touched by something I've created or feel an unspoken kinship or understanding when looking at my work, then that's all I can ask for as an artist.
