Back to Artists

As early as I can remember I have been fueled by creating in any shape or form. My father says he never worried bringing me to work at his garage with him as I could be found at any time during the day steadfastly drawing with chalk on the pavement. I took art classes anytime I could
growing up, even being accepted in to Memphis College of Art's High School Advance Placement class.

My first introduction to the art of photography and darkroom techniques also came at Memphis College of Art during a summer course. I started at the University of Memphis with a concentration in Graphic Design, but soon was drawn back to photography. About a year before I was to graduate I married a military man and for the next six years moved around the country with him. I have since returned to complete my BFA in Photography.

I shoot both film and digital, and truly enjoy experimenting and pushing the limits. This sometimes involves plastic cameras, or the film I choose or the way I process or handle it. Lately I have been working with transfers, assembling them on, in, or with a variety of materials such as metal, glass, and found objects. I have always enjoyed assemblage art with it's layers, and texture, giving life to new objects. I find working in this manner quite exhilarating, allowing me to go beyond simply shooting and printing an image and explore a variety of mediums.
